Balloon Boy-What A Story
Remember the story last week of the boy who supposedly flew away in a homemade hot air balloon? Apparently many people “got freaked out” hearing the story and it was broadcasted everywhere on television and many articles were written on the incredible story (www.sanluisobispo.com). It was a topic of discussion in English class one day last week and we all commented on how strange the story sounded and because of Alex Lehmann’s important life skills that he has taught us, we asked “why?” We wondered how it was even possible that the situation had even occured and why the boy had told his father, “You had said that we did this for a show” on CNN last Thursday when he asked why the boy hadn’t come out of hiding after the parents had called out for him. In class, there were a few different answers to the questions, but we (mainly Alex) determined that the story was planned out by the family to receive attention and money.
As it turns out, Alex was correct. The story had been a “hoax” and the family will be likely charged. Charges would include conspiracy, the false report and possibly federal charges, as well. Make sure to find out what happens to the family on Yahoo News.
